
Farwa Ashraf

Farwa holds a Master's degree in International Development from King's College London, complemented by over eight years of distinguished experience in Strategic Management. Throughout her career, she has autonomously led teams on diverse development projects for esteemed institutions including the World Bank, ADB, UNDP, and Government of Pakistan. Renowned as an authority in capacity building, Faiqa seamlessly navigates the complexities of policy formulation and project execution, collaborating closely with stakeholders to achieve project objectives. Beyond her professional achievements, Farwa’s activism extends to active participation in women's spaces, further demonstrating her commitment to advancing gender equality and social justice in Pakistan. As Board Chair, Farwa will serve as a visionary for Gender Rights Watch, providing strategic direction and oversight to propel our mission forward.

Logan Morales
Logan Morales is a fierce advocate for collective liberation, believing that the only way to secure freedoms for anyone is to fight for freedoms for everyone. From a young age, Logan has been passionate about developing intersectional perspectives and learning from the lived experiences of marginalized communities to work alongside them to create meaningful change. Born in Chicago to a working-class Puerto Rican family, Logan's activist journey began in their undergraduate years, where they double-majored in Biological Sciences and Government. Logan's unique perspectives and background shaped their work across a variety of political and organizing roles, as they went on to fight for food security and workers' rights. Logan's activism continued into graduate school, where their organizing focused on anti-colonial struggle, and eventually earning a Master of Public Policy from the University of Chicago in 2024. Logan now works at a Manhattan-based law firm dedicated to improving public transportation in New York City at a systemic level. They are excited to bring their dedication to equity and progressive ideals to Gender Rights Watch, fighting for liberation for all marginalized and minoritized people.

Zareen Hussain
Zareen Hussain advocates for gender equality and human rights and has experience in policy development and program management and digital transformation. She works in varied sectors such as government and non-profits and international organizations on initiatives that promote women's rights and empower marginalized communities. Her career includes roles with the Kurdistan Regional Government where she led digital transformation projects to improve access to rights for women and gender minorities and as a volunteer with grassroots organizations that support the Uyghur refugee community in the Netherlands. Zareen holds a Master of Public Policy from the University of Chicago and specializes in ecological and energy policy while she leverages her expertise to integrate innovation and sustainability into her work. Zareen acts as a board member at Gender Rights Watch and brings her passion for advancing gender justice and her calculated vision to support the organization's mission of creating a more equitable world.

Nathaniel Viets-VanLear
Nathaniel Viets-VanLear was born and raised in the city of Chicago, and identifies as a social activist, youth advocate, and musician. Nathaniel is most passionate about work with children, youth, and young adults in under-served communities of the city. He has provided content as a speaker, writer, workshop leader, restorative justice practitioner, anti-bias coach, and teaching artist for audiences of all ages. He is a current student at the University of Chicago Crown School of Social Work as he pursues a Masters in Social Sector Leadership. With over a decade of youth development and facilitation experience, he strives to empower and inspire the next generation of leaders. Nathaniel believes radical change can happen with the right tools and collective investment: He is thankful for every opportunity to be a part of that change.

Sana Zaman Butt
Sana Zaman Butt is a Fulbright Scholar pursuing an MPA at Columbia University SIPA, specializing in Human Rights and Humanitarian Policy, with a focus on Gender & Public Policy and Data Analytics. She serves as co-president of SIPA’s Human Rights Working Group and is a board member of Gender Rights Watch. Previously, she worked with the European Union at the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan on politico-legal protections and authored a fact-finding report on rights advocacy in Sindh. Passionate about data analytics, Sana aims to work with development organizations to integrate gender equity into policy frameworks and run a gender-focused social support enterprise in Pakistan.
